2012 Lenten Program
"Make Disciples of All Nations - The New Evangelisation"

"The present generation of Christians is called and sent now to accomplish a new evangelisation among the peoples of Oceania", so wrote Blessed John Paul II in his Apostolic Exhortation, "The Church in Oceania" (13).

"Make Disciples of All Nations - The New Evangelisation" explores the theme of evangelisation in the Gospels of Lent, reminding all Catholics that we are called "always and everywhere" to proclaim the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, inviting them to be reconciled to their Creator. The program features a new section entitled "Words from the Church", which provides a selection of Papal and Conciliar writings highlighting the call to participate in the Church’s missionary mandate. In the "Words of Life" section five people, involved in The New Evangelisation share their stories.

"Make Disciples of All Nations - The New Evangelisation" is designed for use by small groups, who come together once a week to pray, to consider the Gospel reading for the following Sunday, and to discuss a reflection on the Gospel, the "Words of Life" stories, and the "Words from the Church". The program may also be used by families and individuals. It comes with a CD containing a reading of the Gospel passage, a reflection on the Gospel, a short guided meditation and a final hymn.

*NEW* YOUTH Lenten Program

We are pleased to announce that a NEW Youth version of the Lenten Program is now available for pre-order. A sample session is available for preview below. The Youth Lenten Program follows the same theme and format, but has testimonies from young people actively involved in youth ministry including Gary Pinto, Fr Rob Galea and Jessica Langrell. The songs are from artists including Gary Pinto, Fr Rob Galea, Popple and Steven Kirk. The intended age group is 16-24 years.

Suggestions for groups in your parish or school:

  • Host a group in the parish/school hall or meeting room each week
  • Invite parishioners or parents to host a group in their home
  • A 9.15am session for mothers and fathers after they have dropped their children at school
  • Volunteer to organise sessions for residents of local Aged Care Facilities
  • A weekly spiritual reflection for teachers
  • Both of this year’s Lenten Program CD’s feature the voice of Donald Macdonald reading the Gospel passage each week (listen to a sample of Donald reading the Gospel below). Donald is well known for his stage adaptation and performance of "The Gospel of John".
