Enrolment Form 2010

Term 4, Oct-Dec 2010

Scripture and the End Times

James McDonald (Offsite @ *New Location* - Cathedral College Hall (next to St Mary's Cathedral) St Mary's Road, Sydney)
Mondays: 6.00pm - 8.00pm (*Please note earlier time*)
October 25 - November 29

Prophecies concerning the end times are nothing new. This age, like all others, has seen a mixture of strange and wonderful predictions and warnings about the end times usually based on a particular interpretation of the Scriptures. This unit will examine what the Scriptures actually tell us about the end times, judgment, heaven and hell, and it will deal with some ancient and contemporary myths about the end times.

Spiritual Heroes

Mayte Ramos (Live @ Lidcombe)
Thursdays: 6.30pm - 8.00pm
October 28 - December 16 (*Please note later start date*)

In the lives of the saints we can see Jesus Christ’s message realised in human flesh, brought about by the power of the sacraments and a holy life. The saints are a real proof of the truth of the Gospel, both in their particular lives and in their incredible diversity. This unit considers the lives of a representative number of these spiritual heroes, drawing from them lessons for our own lives and inspiring examples to imitate, and introducing us to powerful intercessors to appeal to for spiritual aid.

Opening the New Testament

Andrew Wood (Off-site @ St Gertrude's Parish Hall, 6 Justin St, Smithfield)
Tuesdays: 7.00pm - 9.00pm
October 26 - November 30

You will be led on an exciting journey of discovery into the richness and vast variety of the New Testament, starting from its foundations in the Old Testament. This topic examines the New Testament's divine inspiration, what we know about its human authors, the circumstances of its writing and composition in key passages, and it relevance to our daily lives.

Christian Prayer

Fr John Flader (Live @ Lidcombe)
Thursdays: 8.15pm - 9.45pm
October 21 - December 9

Prayer supports us in all our works and makes them fruitful. This unit aims to help you to live a fuller, richer life of prayer, and to make it easier for you to teach others to pray and to lead others in prayer. Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church this unit will cover the fundamentals of Christian prayer, forms of prayer including liturgical prayer, prayerful leadership and developing a rhythm of prayer in your life.

*TWO DAY INTENSIVE*
Teaching Religion (Secondary)

Louise Zavone (Live @ Lidcombe)
November 11 & 12
Thursday & Friday: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Religious Education is about much more than imparting knowledge, yet students do need to gain knowledge of the Catholic Faith. This topic is about how to teach Religious Education in a way that helps students to learn about Catholic teachings, history, traditions and culture, while also inviting them into a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, obtained only through his Church.
