Students unable to attend live classes may wish to take our courses by correspondence.

Students can enrol in a unit by correspondence at any time, however, units that are being run for the first time in 2007 cannot be taken by correspondence until the term following that in which the course was run live. Units taken by correspondence cost $95.00 each.

How it works

Students will receive recordings of classes on audio CDs. If you enrol in a unit which has already been run you will receive one package with all CDs and other materials needed to complete the unit. If you enrol in a unit which is being run in the current term you will not receive the course until it becomes available for correspondence study, usually the start of the next term. Students will receive any other course handouts, worksheets, etc with the audio CDs.

Each class has a list of suggested extra reading materials, and these books and resources will be available from our bookshop (the Mustard Seed Bookshop). They can be also be purchased through our online facility at www.mustardseed.org.au and mailed out to you. There is an e-mail discussion board set up for our students, and of course you are always welcome to contact Peter Holmes, Manager of Studies.

Certificate Programs

It is possible to receive a Certificate in Youth Ministry, Certificate in Faith Education or RCIA Formators' Certificate by correspondence study. These programs are designed to equip people engaged in passing on the faith to others with the fundamental knowledge and confidence they need. They are intended to be practical courses at an adult education level.

Teachers in the Sydney Archdiocesan Catholic School system who wish to gain accreditation to teach Religious Education can do so using our Certificate in Faith Education. This course is an alternative to the Certificate of RE (NSW) available through Sydney CEO. Many teachers may find our certificate an attractive option owing to its flexible study modes. Further information on teacher accreditation for RE is available from CEO - Sydney at: www.ceo.syd.catholic.edu.au/portal/site/re/
