The certificate programs offered by the Catholic Adult Education Centre are listed below:

  • Certificate in Youth Ministry
  • Certificate in Faith Education
  • Advanced Certificate in Faith Education
  • RCIA Formators Certificate (Core)
  • RCIA Formators Certificate (Advanced)

These programs have been designed to offer comprehensive and systematic adult faith formation for those engaged in works of catechesis and evangelisation.

To study at the CAEC, it is not required that a student is enrolled in a certificate program - you are welcome to take on as many or as few individual subjects as you would like. These programs, however, can help to provide a structure to your learning, or to gain accreditation to teach within the Archdiocese.

Certificate in Youth Ministry

Designed to meet the faith formation needs of those working to evangelise youth, students are required to complete 10 units and a practical component. This course is used to train staff at Catholic Youth Services, Sydney.

Certificate in Faith Education

This course is recognised by the CEO - Sydney, and the CCD Sydney, and provides a sound preparation for all involved in passing on the faith to others, . Teachers wishing to become qualified to teach RE in Catholic schools in the Sydney Archdiocese, and those preparing to teach as a catechist, may do so by completing the Certificate of Faith Education.

Advanced Certificate in Faith Education

To be awarded the Advanced Certificate, students must complete 8 units in addition to the 16 units they completed for the Certificate in Faith Education. Eligible student will be able to apply what they have learned to a concrete situation within Parish or Diocesan Life.

RCIA Formators Certificate (Core)

This new certificate course provides faith formation for leaders working in the RCIA. Participants will gain the confidence, knowledge and skills that are so useful working in this important ministry.

This new certificate course builds on the solid foundation provided by the RCIA Formators Certificate (Core), giving students the opportunity to explore particular topics in great depth.
