New Director for the CAEC - Thomas Waugh
The CAEC is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Waugh as the new director
of the Catholic Adult Education Centre.
Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University. He was
admitted as a legal practitioner of the in July 2003 and practised law until June 2011
specialising in insurance litigation.
He was Tertiary Convenor of Catholic Chaplaincies in 2009 and now returns to the
Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney as Director of the CAEC. During his time as Tertiary Convenor,
he led and facilitated sessions on the Bible, Theology and Apologetics.
He was an evangelical until 15 September 2004 when, after a long period of study, debate,
reflection and prayer, he entered the Catholic Church.
As an evangelical, he led bible studies, gained experience in Natural and Christian
Apologetics, biblical theology, systematic theology, exegesis and soteriology and participated
in outreach events to non-Christians. He was an active member in Evangelical Student Groups
during his years of Tertiary study.
He has a passion for teaching the Catholic Faith to Catholics and evangelising non-Catholics
and an interest in theology, philosophy and history. He has arranged and led Bible Studies and
other forms of catechesis (including Apologetics, Theology) at his local Catholic parish.
